Tiger chicks and tiger animal feeds in collaboration with the Poultry Association of Zambia trained the poultry farmers drawing participants from Kembe, Chisamba, Chibombo, Liteta and surrounding areas. This was one of the trainings earmarked to provide the services closer to the farmers. The emphasis of the training was on poultry management, vaccination, feeding as well as marketing. The well attended meeting resolved that there was need to launch an association in the area for effective representation both at the local and national level. With the regard, it was resolved that the vastness of the area required zoning to ensure that services are closer to the poultry farmers. Key amongst the issues that came out include the rising prices of poultry feed, the dampen market and lower prices .Poultry farmers in the district expressed appreciation for the training and wished to have similar events in the future.
The Poultry Association of Zambia wishes extend their appreciation to Mr Chibawe Yarsley, the chairperson for the layers subcommittee, who organised the poultry farmers and tiger animal feeds for the training. We wish to encourage other stakeholders in the poultry value to come on board and offer similar training especially now when they are facing several challenges
